Welcome, this website will mainly be photographs of ships on the River Severn, England. The main locations that have been photographed are docks at Sharpness in England, Newport, Cardiff and Barry in Wales. There will also be galleries of other locations around the UK.
Most of the photographs are of coasters, but also included will be other types of shipping that I photograph.
"Latest Photo's" has regular updates and please feel free to comment or vote on any of the photographs.
All early photo's were taken with a Canon EOS 300D, but in January 2009 I upgraded to a Canon EOS 40D, lenses used include 17 - 55mm f2.8 IS USM, 70 - 300mm f4-5.6 IS USM.

Sharpness Docks lie on the River Severn, they are 9.5 miles upriver from the Severn Bridge.
Due to the huge tidal range of the Severn the docks are only accessible at high tide.
The docks can handle ships of 6000 tonnes loaded, a max beam of 16.7m and any length.
The locks, docks and waterways are the responsibility of British Waterways, but the quays are run by Sharpness Dock Ltd. |

Morning tides at Chepstow this week are from 11.49am and Evening tides from 00.29am. Photo opportunities will be limited this week with few ships heading for Sharpness.
